Cagliari: Sardinian Cooking Class with Meal and Drinks

1. Cagliari: Sardinian Cooking Class with Meal and Drinks

Cagliari, south Sardinia, the wonderful capital of this island. Here you can discover the ancient recipe of the delicious culurgiones pasta. Host by the talented Damiano and his sister you will learn a recipe that has been handed down for generations and learned by Damiano from his grandma since childhood. You will be given a so-called "scivedda" (container) and shown how to prepare the pasta. After that you will prepare the filling before tasting all the ingredients.  The dough (previously put to rest) will then be processed and the typical closing of the culurgiones "a spighedda" (in the shape of an ear) will begin. After the closing of all the culurgiones everyone will sit at the table to enjoy the appetizers with a glass of wine, while the water will be boiled for the big meal. This meal will surely delight your palate! The culurgiones recipe comes from Damiano's grandmother who occasionally prepares culurgiones at home with the whole family on Sunday or during holidays. The original culurgiones recipe belongs to the Ogliastra province (south-east of Sardinia) where each county has its typical recipe. During this lab you will learn the culurgiones recipe from the town of Jerzu. The class is held by Damiano and his sister. In the remote possibility of last minute inconveniences, they will be replaced by qualified staff who previously took part in this course.

We travelled to the winery as a group trip from Ireland while holidaying in Sardinia. We had a fantastic couple of hours thanks to our beautiful guide Ali who was very informative and passionate about her job. She went above and beyond explaining the process from start to finish including a tour of the vineyards, The highlight of the day was tasting the wines paired with local cheeses and meats. Thanks again Ali for a wonderful experience from the Dublin gang.

From start to finish the experience was fantastic. Great value for money and Alice our host was super friendly. As my girlfriend Gabi said on the way home, ‘I feel like I’ve made a friend that I’ll never get to see again’! The wines are also of amazing quality. Highly recommend.

It is very interesting to discover the history of the Salina, the journey by train is a further journey into the life of the Salina. A compliment to Stefano for running the route and to all the operators who enrich the Salina.

Great experience, an extremely warm welcome and a dive into the heart of Sardinian wine traditions. An excellent wine tasting with fabulous cold cuts and cheeses. To recommend !

Excellent value, videos had English subtitles and were informative! The train itself was in Italian, but we were able to ask questions to the guide afterwards.
