Why Istanbul?
Istanbul first crossed my radar when I read about the Basilica Cistern in Dan Brown's novel Inferno. A year later I was exploring the beautiful city where east meets west, and old meets new. The city has a welcoming and laid-back vibe, and its streets are filled with history. Istanbul is one of those destinations that has something for everyone, from the Blue Mosque to the Bosphorus River, and the Grand Bazaar. There is always something happening and you can explore almost everywhere on foot. If you visit in the summer, look for concerts held at the Basilica Cistern.
