Picked up from the hotel on time. Guide was informative on the journey to the port. Sit on the left hand side of the boat, as for the first hour the views are of the coastline. Once the boat gets into the delta the scenery changes, wasn't expecting so many houses and such a community. All very interesting. The trip states that 'snacks' are provided, this consisted of a small coffee and a small pre pack muffin. Boat trip takes about 2 hours. In Tigre we were given about an hour to wander around the markets, but very little of interest to see or buy. There were a few places to eat.
We bought ferry tickets across to Colonia for a day trip. I bought the tickets online through Get your Guide. The tickets were cheaper with Get your guide than at the port. We didn’t need to print anything out, just turn up at the port with our reservation number (sent by colonia express) and passports. It was a very efficient process, we didn’t have to queue to check in we could just print out tickets from the auto check in with our reservation number.
I had a tour that not only met, but exceeded my expectations. Not only was Pat super knowledgeable, but very personable. I was on the tour alone which sometimes can be a bit awkward with someone you don't know, BUT within 5 minutes I felt very comfortable and had the best day exploring El Tigre. I was discouraged by many to not take a tour and to do this on my own and I'm SO glad that I spent the money and did the tour! It was worth every penny!
Enjoyed this tour although I would have been happy to see more graffiti and have less talk. However, the guide was very informative and his English was very good. The tour took us down alleyways and roads that we wouldn't have know about. Interesting to hear about the background to some of the graffiti. Overall a good tour.
Gonzalo was my guide. He is amazing. Very knowledgeable he knows so much about the history of Bs Aires and Argentina, I never imagined that a fun bike ride would turn into a a great way to get to know the roots of this beautiful nation. A+++
