The boat trip to Tigre, is fantastic. You need to understand (which we did), that this is basically providing transportation only. They get you to the boat (which you could catch on you own and I’d highly recommend taking it, it is lovely), get you to the market and get you back to Buenos Aries. Our guide was very nice and provided odds and sods of information, but spent much of her time answering questions from another couple. Which was not her fault. The only downside is that we had little time in Tigre itself, and we spent much time driving short distances in traffic, which took a long time, parking and making everyone just walk to what they wanted would have been better. We would have liked to go into the museum, but we only had 30 min free time in Tigre after the boat ride. You might be better off taking train home on your own, as Tigre is a super sweet little town! But all in all, she kept on time, managed all the details and was very nice.
Picked up from the hotel on time. Guide was informative on the journey to the port. Sit on the left hand side of the boat, as for the first hour the views are of the coastline. Once the boat gets into the delta the scenery changes, wasn't expecting so many houses and such a community. All very interesting. The trip states that 'snacks' are provided, this consisted of a small coffee and a small pre pack muffin. Boat trip takes about 2 hours. In Tigre we were given about an hour to wander around the markets, but very little of interest to see or buy. There were a few places to eat.
I had a tour that not only met, but exceeded my expectations. Not only was Pat super knowledgeable, but very personable. I was on the tour alone which sometimes can be a bit awkward with someone you don't know, BUT within 5 minutes I felt very comfortable and had the best day exploring El Tigre. I was discouraged by many to not take a tour and to do this on my own and I'm SO glad that I spent the money and did the tour! It was worth every penny!
The tour and guide was very good, but the van had two languages that did not allow us to get full value. There was no effort to confirm this setup or give us options. There was no way the guide could impart all the info in the time allotted.
Amazing 4 hour trip (2 hours on the boat - bus back) To an incredible neighbourhood called Tigres. Georgina, our guide was wonderful. Would definitely recommend this tour to get out of the city for a few hours.
