Full description
The guide guided tastings you will encounter in this tour feature a carefully curated selection of 8 Hungarian wines. Together they will distill the wide range of Hungarian wine into a comprehensible story, which is hoped will be just the beginning of your Hungarian wine experience. Over 2 hours you will get a good overview of Hungarian wine, including the history, the major regions, the important varietals, unique characteristics and styles, and promising trends. The wine is bought directly from the producers, who your guides have gotten to know well over the years. Every wine you will taste during the course of the tasting will be there for a reason, and by the session’s end you will have a good understanding of Hungary’s place in the world of wine, and plenty of good wine in your belly. This tasting is designed for anyone with an interest in wine, who would like to know more about the relatively unknown wines of Hungary. There will be a total of eight wines, beginning with an aperitif, followed by reds and whites (and perhaps a rosé), and ending with a sweet botrytised Tokaj aszú wine.

I LOVED this wine tasting class! The wine lecturer was hilarious in a low key way and had us cracking up with his under the breath humor. Needless to say, the wine and the food the came with it were amazing! I know you shouldn't eat so much while tasting wine, but all the crispy bread, pumpkin seed oil and amazing cheeses! Plus... you will be drinking a LOT of wine! I'm not one to spit wine out and each glass was a normal size glass. If you like meeting other travelers, this is the perfect forum. There were people from all different countries, all who love wine and want to learn more about the elusive hungarian wines. Speaking of which, the wines... amazing. All of them! Some unique as they were grapes I've never had before and the selection is perfect. I was taking notes to remember all these great grapes, but after the 4th glass... my notes were shorter and shorter; but in a good way. Super recommended!!!

An absolutely lovely and informative few hours sampling some great wines, cheese and meats from Hungary. Our sommelier Nikki was a delight - lots of knowledge and so much insight into Hungary’s winemaking culture. Every single wine was a new one for me and it was a great intro to Hungarian wines. They change the selection regularly so I’ll definitely be back for another tasting when I’m next in Budapest. I was the only person booked on the evening tasting so they moved me to the earlier session but still provided 1 sparkling, 3 white, 3 red and 1 sweet wine. Very generous pours more like a glass than a taste! Also an option to purchase additional Hungarian spirits to taste if you wish. The discount at their shop on all wines that were tasted was a great extra!

Brilliant way to start our 3 day trip!! The location was easy to find and happened to be only about 10 minutes from the hotel. Lovely place to sample wines, being an old cellar. Christian, our host, made it a very interesting evening and was full of knowledge about the country and its wines. The wines he has us sample were all amazing and the food was lovely too!! Highly recommended!
