Full description

Journey back in time and learn what life was like in Budapest during the 50 years of communist rule. Hear what it was like to live behind the Iron Curtain and how the residents negotiated everyday events, such as how to get a passport and what was school life. Learn about events such as the 1956 Revolution, listen to tales of the first protests in the fight back against an unethical regime and visit a small exhibition commemorating the volleys. Follow your guide through small streets of Pest downtown to areas where the action happened, including Liberty Square with the last Soviet monument and the square of the Hungarian Parliament.

Our guide (whose name I don't remember -- we had a lot of tours during this trip) was personable, knowledgeable, and informative. We already knew a lot about communism, generally, and a bit about communism in Hungary, in particular, but we learned a lot more. He had a great time and an inside look into the Hungary before the one you will see if you visit the country now.
