Full description
Learn about 1,000 years of Hungarian history as you see the city's most important sites! This 3-hour guided city tour begins at our Sightseeing office. On the drive to the Buda side of the Danube, you will see all major attractions along the river Danube. Your first stop is in the Castle District for a short walk to see the area’s main attractions. You’ll visit Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion (entrance fee not included) , the perfect spot for enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding area. Crossing Elizabeth Bridge to the Pest side we pass by the famous Central Market Hall and Europe’s largest synagogue, followed by a drive to the City Park. Along the way, pass the largest thermal spa in Europe and the Budapest Zoo, then stop at Heroes’ Square, where you’ll find statues of famed Hungarian kings. The tour continues from here down Andrássy Avenue to downtown Pest, passing the Opera House and St. Stephen’s Basilica.

On arrival we were met in the tourist office by 3 of the most sullen girls I’ve ever come across. Not good as the first impression can make or break the whole day. A smile and pleasant manner go a long way. However, the tour was excellent as was Robert our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of Hungarian history. The mini bus was comfortable and warm, which was great as it was a chilly day. Would recommend this activity when in Budapest. Just go straight on the bus though not via the tourist office.

Greg was a great guide who provided lots of historical knowledge and general info but made it interesting. He also had a wicked sense of humour. Only 4 on our trip so it was like a private tour of the city. Really enjoyed the places we visited and the weather made it.

We were a group of 14 people composed mostly of seniors and so our pace was a bit slow as could be expected. Our guide Mikhail was amazing and completely accommodating! We never felt rushed throughout the tour. He took us to the beautiful sites of Budapest and explained the history and stories behind the sites. He was very engaging and lively. Perfect tour if you only have a few short days in the city.
