Visit Bran Castle, the fortress that inspired the legend of Dracula, on a day trip through the Carpathians' stunning Prahova Valley. Explore the mysterious castle alongside the rest of Bran, before venturing onwards to the old Saxon city of Brasov.
What to Expect
Escape Bucharest through the breathtaking Carpathian mountains and gorgeous Prahova Valley to begin a day in search of Romania's darkest legends at Bran Castle.
There will be a refreshment stop at Sinaia, with free time to stroll the picturesque park of the town's ornate casino. Then continue through the mountainous landscape to the village of Bran, home to the castle that inspired Bram Stoker's famous Dracula.
Bran Castle boasts numerous stories of its own and, as an active fortress, remained unconquered throughout its 630 years. Tour the ominous landmark and the surrounding area, enjoying time at the quaint local market and lunch at one of the area's best restaurants.
Then transfer to Brasov, perhaps Transylvania's best-preserved Saxon city. Once there, tour the sights around the central square, including the Black Church – one of the largest Gothic-style churches in Southeastern Europe – as well as the History Museum and the Council Square.
