I booked this walking tour for the morning of our first full day of a weeklong stay in Bucharest in order to not only learn a little about the history of the place, but to get our bearings on where everything was given we were going to spend much of our time in the centre itself. We were met at the pre-arranged meeting point by our guide, Elena, who was so friendly and welcoming (and funny!). She had a real passion for her homeland and Bucharest in particular and the 3 hours flew past. Some tours can be 'overkill' when it comes to bombarding you with information, dates and stats etc, but Elena's was a perfect balance of interesting facts, answering any questions we had and showing us the sights - all at the right pace. She also gave us several tips of things to do or places to visit which we then did (making our break even more fulfilling). We were extremely impressed with this tour and Elena was a joy to spend time with - so would definitely recommend.

Elena was so wonderful! She truly Loves her city, Bucharest and took us around to see some history and stories of the city. I am grateful for booking this tour, we would have missed many of the highlights of the city without her. Highly recommend for those who want to learn about the city and the communist period in Bucharest!

Our experience with Mara was excellent! A very prepared and passionate guide, answering our questions and showing us pictures of the city as it was in the past. The tour was well thought, we “travelled” through time knowing history and curiosity of Bucarest. Definitely a tour we recommend to start visiting the city!
