We booked our tour knowing very little about Bucharest. We are so thrilled with the entire experience which included Mircea and Alex (our guides) sharing a delicious Romanian Beer in a very cool bar, touring us around Mahallas and treating us to the best Mici in town. The down to earth vibe and level of knowledge and passion they both had for the city was contagious. Though we were walking mostly through ice and snow, we truly enjoyed the time together and overall experience. We will certainly book future tours with them and are already planning a trip back to Bucharest in warmer weather to do other tours/exploration.
This tour packs so much value into its itinerary: friendly, knowledgeable guides with a passion for their city and its culture; an incredible hotchpotch of old/ancient buildings and churches down mazelike alleys; aging mansions converted to cosy cultural centre bistros, that only locals could find; rides on Communist-era trams; a visit to a huge local produce market, with free samples galore; an unbelievable Communist-era department store and a foodies' delight of Romanian specialties, beers and more! This is exceptional value for money.
Intimate and tailored perfectly for small groups of friends (or strangers). Dan was personable, hospitable, and educational as he walked our group through a variety of Romanian wines. His presentation meets at the intersection sommelier and historian - coincidentally he happens to be both. We enjoyed hearing about regional varieties and grained both an education and deeper appreciation for the hidden treasure of Romanian wines.
The guide was very knowledgeable and her information was extensive. She was a able to explain the contemporary architecture and city features to the historical foundations of the Bucharest and Romania holistically. We saw the sights and ate traditional Romanian food, which only enhanced our Romanian experience both historically and culinarily.
Andra was the perfect guide, knowledgeable, personable, and we listened entranced to her stories of Romanian history. We discovered amazing places which we would not have discovered by ourselves and finally had lunch in a tranquil restaurant away from hustle and bustle! Highly recommended
