Full description

After 1 hour driving from Bucharest you will cross the border to Bulgaria over Danube river, the second largest river in Europe and then stop at Ivanovo to visit Ivanovo Churches (UNESCO heritage since 1979). Located in the Valley of the Rusenski Lom River, the rock-hewn churches are famous thanks to their impressive XIII-XIVth century frescos. The second stop will be in Veliko Tarnovo, one of the most beautiful cities in Bulgaria, located on the banks of Yantra River. Also known as the City of Tsars, Veliko boasts an impressive fortress with the ruins of the former Tsarevets Palace and the patriarchal church, nowdays with modern and intriguing paintings. The medieval atmosphere is well kept in the city thanks to the old architecture and the narrow streets where you can admire local craftsmen and their work. There are plenty of good restaurants in Veliko Tarnovo and it will be chosen one to enjoy the tasty Bulgarian food together with one of their fine wines. The Village of Arbanassi is the next place you will visit, being located very close to the city. Arbanassi is a quiet and picturesque village which even today keeps the medieval touch through the old architecture. The tour ends after returning to Bucharest.

Our guide made the difference and the tour was very informative thanks to Valentine, our guide with a delightful good sense of humour. We truly enjoyed our day touring UNESCO sites in Northern Bulgaria. When we stopped for lunch, our guide chose a family owned restaurant that served delicious meals. We had plenty of time to visit the places with and without the group and to take pictures.

Excellent day trip! Our guide Serban Rigo was knowledgeable and gave lot of information on history and landscape of the places we visited which were very interesting. He took very good care of us and gave us flexibility with itinerary. I highly recommend this trip special if you have Serban taking you around! A day well spent and a trip worth it.

Lo mejor fue encontrar café guatemalteco 🥲. Era la primera vez utilizando esta aplicación y la verdad es que para este específico Tour creo que el precio es un poco elevado para lo que haces en Bulgaria. Este si es un país diferente, totalmente y esto no es culpa de ningún guía. Como sugerencia tal vez podría ser interesante que los guías nos lleven en el Tour del monasterio porque todo está escrito en búlgaro y no se entiende nada además que no hay señal en todo el monasterio. También sería genial que el guía nos llevara a través de los puntos interesantes del pueblo porque la historia nos la contaron en el camino y hubiese sido mejor llevarnos a los lugares más emblemáticos del pueblo. lo que no me gustó fue que nos llevaran a ese pueblo reconocido por la Unesco porque básicamente nos dejaron 15 minutos ahí y no pudimos ver absolutamente nada ni visitar ninguna tienda. Para quienes estén considerando tomar este Tour, no esperen mucho pero si es interesante conocer un país como este
