The trip involves a Long drive (7-8 hours) to and fro. I went on the trip during the Low season and did not wait long at the customs (5 mins, but I heard it could take hours on peak season). We were given ample time to explore each of the attractions - spent roughly 4-5 hours visiting the monastery, Veliko Tărnovo and had a short break sipping coffee at arbanasi village overlooking the Balkan mountains and a beautiful valley. Our guide and driver Roberto was really friendly and professional. He took care of us well and kept cracking jokes along the journey. Overall if you have limited time in Bucharest and would like to visit some of Bulgaria’s less accessible attractions this is a day trip you should embark on.

What a brilliant day! You see so much in one day, and the company is so easy to get hold of going up to the activity with any questions you may have. I had Rodica as my tour guide and she was so knowledgeable about the history and local recommendations of where to eat and shop. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would definitely recommend.

The tour was very well organized. Roberto was our driver and guide and it was fun to travel with him to Bulgaria. He has some strong opinions that might offend some people, but it didn't bother us. Unfortunately we spent most of the day in the minivan because of the long distances and there was not much time to discover the sights (the same is true for other tours with "Mr. Tripp"). However, as we were a small group of less than 10 people and the bus was comfortable, we enjoyed the trip anyway. I recommend this tour if you want to get an impression of Bulgaria in one day!
