What to Expect
As you depart from Bucharest you’ll enjoy a scenic drive to the Prahova Valley, a narrow corridor between Transylvania and Wallachia. Travel along an ancient road that is one of the most visited routes in Romania.

On this full-day trip you’ll have the opportunity to see the famous castles of Sinaia Mountain Resort, which served as a royal residence.

The history of Sinaia began with the construction of the Sinaia Monastery in 1695. A settlement grew rapidly, in conjunction with the development of the industries of the south Carpathian area. By the end of the 18th century it was connected to Bucharest by road. Sinaia was declared a town in 1880, making it one of the oldest urban mountain settlements in Romania.

The Peles Castle complex is one of the best-preserved royal palaces in Europe. The Castle is heavily ornamented both inside and out, and features elaborate wood sculptures and paintings that depict scenes from the works of the German composer Richard Wagner.

Continue to Bran Village, passing through the dramatic mountain landscape, and you’ll reach the legendary Dracula Castle. From 1920-1927 Bran Castle was restored under the supervision of the architect of the Royal Court, who turned it in a beautiful summer residence, surrounded by a park with promenades, a lake, fountains, arbors, and a tea house.

You’ll stop at the city of Brasov, originally known as Kronstadt. During the second half of the 14th century it was the ecclesiastic center of the region of Tara Barsei, an economic and cultural center of Transylvania.
