While it's impossible to do everything in one day, we have designed various tours to fit in with the day’s weather conditions so we can provide the most enjoyable experience. You can expect an active (easy/moderate level) morning with nature walks, albino wallaby spotting, spectacular scenery lookouts, exploring pristine beaches and lagoon (swimming optional). This tour takes you off the beaten track and into areas that are only accessible by walking tracks that only locals know about. After an adventurous morning, it will be time to pull it back a gear as we head for lunch at the Bruny Hotel, with many options to suit budgets and dietary requirements. After lunch, unwind and relax as we sample some award winning local produce. Honey, chocolate fudge, beverages and oysters are all possibilities (time pending and at own cost)! Some of the things you can expect to see and do: (some will be weather and time permitting) Temperate rainforest walk Walking tracks (easy to moderate level) Swimming (weather permitting) Wildlife spotting (we know some of the hiding spots of the elusive albino wallaby which may allow for a spotting!) Beat the crowds and arrive early at Bruny Island. Depart from Hobart and head south on a scenic drive toward the ferry terminal. Here you can purchase any breakfast, snacks, or lunch supplies that you may like for the day ahead before boarding the ferry. Begin your adventure with a walk highlighting the amazing coastal scenery. Follow the Cape Queen Elizabeth trail, one of Tasmania’s great short walks. Walk to Mars Bluff. for great views of the surrounding area, then head back down to Miles Beach and the fantastic rock formaction The Arch. The walk is a total of 6 kilometers, and is considered a walk of moderate difficulty. The next stop is the isthmus joining North and South Bruny Island. Known as 'The Neck', it's the location of the Trugannini Lookout. There are 279 stairs to the top where you will be well rewarded with fantastic views. Take a moment to explore and spot the penguin burrows among the sand dunes. Stop for some local history at Two Tree Point, Resolution Creek, and Coal Point before arriving at Adventure Bay. Adventure Bay is the main hub on Bruny Island. Relax on the beach with your own lunch or enjoy lunch at Pennicotts Seafood Restaurant (at your own expense). Re-group after lunch ready for a leisurely afternoon discovering Bruny Island’s world-renowned artisanal produce. Stop at Bruny Island Chocolate Company, Bruny Island Honey, Bruny Island Cheese Co., and Get Shucked Oyster Farm.

Day 1: Hobart to Strahan Departing Hobart, your tour of Tasmania/lutruwita begins in Mount Field National Park. Walk among the world’s tallest eucalyptus trees and discover the cascading Russell Falls. The incredible scenery continues at Lake St Clair (Australia’s deepest freshwater lake), and the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. You’ll learn about Tasmania’s mining history in Queenstown before arriving in the village of Strahan where we’ll spend the next two nights. Day 2: Wild West Coast Discover the West Coast’s wild and rugged coastlines and rainforests. Walk to Tasmania’s highest waterfall, Montezuma Falls, within the ancient rainforests of the Tarkine/takayna. At the coast we’ll explore Henty Sand Dunes and Tasmania’s longest stretch of sand at Ocean Beach. Or today you can choose an outstanding nature cruise on the beautiful Gordon River (own cost). Day 3: Cradle Mountain to Launceston Discover Cradle’s alpine and glacial-carved wilderness as you look for wombats, echidna, and other Tasmanian wildlife. Choose from a variety of world-class walks, such as the track to the summit of Marion’s Lookout, or the Dove Lake circuit. Later today we'll drive to the city of Launceston via the colourful town of Sheffield, known as the Town of Murals. Day 4: Launceston to Bicheno Explore Launceston's lovely Cataract Gorge which is a great place for seeing wallaby. Travel to the Bay of Fires/larapuna and learn about the spiritual connection of the land to Tasmanian aboriginal people/palawa. Walk along pristine white sands with its turquoise waters with striking orange boulders. We will spend the night in Bicheno, home of the little penguin. Day 5: Freycinet National Park Walk to Wineglass Bay or climb to the summit of Mt Amos. We'll visit the Cape Tourville lighthouse before returning to Hobart/nipaluna. Day 6: Tasmanian Devils, Richmond and Wellington Park Today we'll meet Tasmanian devils at Bonorong wildlife sanctuary, before exploring the heritage village of Richmond. Back in Hobart we'll show you some of our favourite spots on Mount Wellington/kunanyi. Tonight, unwind in one of Hobart's historic pubs or restaurants. Day 7: Port Arthur and the Tasman Peninsula Discover the rugged coastal scenery and epic convict history of the Tasman Peninsula/turrakana. Visit Port Arthur, Australia’s best preserved convict settlement. Later today we'll walk to the stunning Crescent Bay, before returning to Hobart.

At the nominated time on your booking, meet at the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre (20 Davey Street). We take a guided scenic drive through historic Hobart. Then passing through South Hobart where we view Mt Wellington towering over us and the Cascade brewery building dating back to 1824 (and share one of its stories). Then we continue our drive through the tall Eucalyptus forests and through the town of Ferntree with its lush well watered cool temperate gardens occasionally covered in snow, before passing The Springs. Here we see a quick trailer view of Bruny Island a tiny taste of what is to come. Next we pass the Chalet, a rustic dolerite bluestone shelter hut and behold the colourful and resilient snow gums, flowering banksia trees, a waterfall and views of Hobart. David your Guide has studied botany, geology and water resources at a local university in Hobart and is well able to explain this unique mountain environment. He has experienced this mountain since young and has plenty of stories to share. Now above the tree line the wheels again do the climbing and you do the viewing, with a scenic drive to the summit 1,270m/4,180ft (also known as the Pinnacle). Up here the views only get better, now including some of the mountains of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. You get 30 minutes free time to take in stunning views from the Hobart and South West Wilderness viewing platforms, and see unique Tasmanian alpine vegetation and abrupt rock pillar formations. At the summit, you will be filled with astonishment, to be launched forth into an ocean of natural goodness where you can see no limits. We return to the Tasmanian Travel Information Centre with further views, mountain and forest scenery, and gripping stories on the way down. We arrive back two hours after your tour commenced leaving you plenty of time to explore Hobart.

We absolutely loved our trip to Bruny Island. Simon our driver and guide was lovely and knew his stuff! The trip was very informative and laid back, we were kept to time but we weren’t rushed and the views from the water were spectacular. The fish and chips we had for lunch was lovely and we’d recommend this trip to everyone!
