Bruges: Guided Walking Tour and Canal Boat Trip

The tour was really good. Our guide was very friendly and informative. The 2 hour walking tour flew by and was enjoyable and having a local do the tour and getting, not only informative tour about the history but also recommendations of where to go, see and do whilst we are staying. Thoroughly recommend anyone to do this tour at the beginning of your trip. This also goes for the boat tour, was very informative and is especially more interesting and enjoyable after doing the walking tour and see the two different view, by foot and by water. Both guid where I’m informative, friendly and entertaining in the way they present the history of this beautiful city.

My guide Karl met me at my hotel with bike and tools to make last minute adjustments but the bike was set up fine -except for the pedals. My bad, as I hadn’t been specific enough, but Karl took it all in his stride. A quick call into home base and all was good. A short ride out of town and we were in the beautiful Flemish county side. There are quicker route to the Mur de Huy but we are taking the scenic route, and it IS beautiful. We are fortunate with the weather, fine and not much wind. So the fields and copses of trees are shrouded in mist which only adds to their appeal. For the first time I get a taste of Flemish cobbles, beloved of the local riders but dreaded by all others. Then we reach the Mur. With Karl’s expert guidance I manage to get to the top without clipping out! But it’s not all about the Mur. Another cobbled climb and a few rolling hills and we are back in Brussels. Karl is an experienced rider who has ridden competitively, so makes the perfect guide.
