What to Expect
During your 3 hours guided tour on foot in the historic center of Bruges you will visit 2 active museums: Choco-Story (the Chocolate museum) and De Halve Maan (brewery). Furthermore while hopping from place to place you see and comment upon the most important historical buildings and squares. E.g. the Market Square, the Burg, the Fish Market, the Dijver and the Minnewater. From time to time your guide gets welcome help from the chocolate maker or brewer her/himself. Not only for the in-depth explanation but certainly when it comes to tasting.
First comes the Choco-Story. This museum covers the whole chocolate history starting with the cacao beans of the Maya and the Aztecs to the high-tech production process nowadays. The museum is an initiative of the Van Belle family of the namesake brand of Belgian chocolate with stores all over the world. Of course you can taste and sample the homemade chocolates. At noon, enjoy lunch in the brewery (3 course menu). After lunch visit of the brewery De Halve Maan where ‘De Brugse Zot’ beer is being brewed. The brewery De Halve Maan in the last family owned brewery of the historical center of Bruges. This brewery is deeply entrenched in Bruges’ history. Since up to the present day, six generations of the Maes family have succeeded each other. A local guide tells you everything about hops and malt.
