Your guide will meet you at your Brno hotel and you’ll head off together on a 50-minute drive to the historic city of Olomouc. See all the important sights in Olomouc and learn about its rich history on this 5-hour excursion.
Olomouc, the old capital of Moravia, boasts the largest historic preservation zone outside Prague. There are 12 churches in the city center alone, including St. Wenceslas Cathedral, which has been Moravia’s most important church for 900 years. Go below ground at St. Michael’s Church to see the freshwater spring on which the city was founded.
Visit a chapel with a preserved torture chamber in its dungeons, and see the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Holy Trinity Column that’s so large it has a chapel inside it too.
The trip combines a walking tour of the historic center with a visit by car to other important and interesting sites.
You’ll see the Town Hall with the Astronomical Clock, Baroque fountains, the Marian Column, and St. Moritz Church, which boasts the largest organ in central Europe. You’ll drive to see the Holy Hill and the Baroque Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary.
