Enjoy a journey back to the time of Napoleon on a half-day tour of Slavkov and the Battlefield of Austerlitz. Take in the stunning views of the Santon Mountains, Gold Creek, and the hill where Napoleon led his army in a successful campaign.
What to Expect
Visit the site of the Battle of Austerlitz, also known as the Battle of the 3 Emperors, on a half-day sightseeing tour from Brno.
The site of one of Napoleon’s greatest victories is located just outside Slavkov, a country town 6 miles east of Brno. Traveling by comfortable coach, you’ll explore the historic region around Slavkov, including the Austerlitz battlefield itself and the surrounding Santon Mountains.
See the Old Post, a building dating from 1785, where the French General Murat set up his headquarters, and which now serves as a hotel and restaurant. Visit Santon Hill, where yearly reenactments of the bloodthirsty battle take place. You’ll also stop at Žuráň Hill, the site of Napoleon’s former headquarters.
After a scenic bus tour of the battle sites you’ll visit the French-style Austerlitz Castle, where the armistice between Austria and France was signed on 2 December 1805.
Admire the Art Nouveau chapel and visit the Battle Museum, before driving to Gold Creek and seeing the hill from which Napoleon launched his successful battle.
