What to Expect
This half-day tour is especially designed to give you a glimpse of the best vantage spots on Stradbroke Island, a barrier sand island between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. After booking, Straddie Kingfisher Tours will decide on the best time to go, dependent on the tides.

You will then be picked up from your Island accommodation, while guests visiting from Cleveland will be met at the water taxi terminal in Dunwich. Head off in 4WD vehicles for the northern section of the island to experience the best vantage points. During your drive around you will stop off for a “cuppa” and some Aussie Damper (unleavened bread baked over a campfire) at an ideal location.

Continue you drive through the Blue Lake National Park, home to the southern sun fish abd ephemeral Tortoise Lagoon. Stop at Main Beach to take souvenir photos and look out for resident wildlife. From June to November you can spot majestic humpback whales from the beach.

Next, drive to Flinders Beach and Amity Point to meet a couple of resident koalas. Learn of Straddie’s long history, dating back some 40,000 years when the first settlers arrived to the first recorded European sighting by James Cook in 1770, to today’s aborigine inhabitants from the Noonuccal, Nughie, and Goenpul.
