Full description
See the many sights of Brisbane on a leisurely, 14-kilometer bike ride. Spend ample time at stops to learn the charms of the city and take a fabulous picture or two. Start with an acknowledgement of Australia’s traditional owners, the Aboriginal People, and learn about the oldest living culture in the world. From the starting point at Howard Smith Wharves, the city’s latest riverside precinct, look out over the beautiful view of one of the city’s key landmarks, the Story Bridge. Following a short, 200-meter walk to pick up the bikes, you will run through a full safety briefing and allow a quick warm up ride to get you familiar with the bikes. You will be taken through the gears, have the bike adjusted for you, and get in the groove for the day out pedaling. Then, wind your way along the river, past the gorgeous Customs House, through the City Botanic Gardens and past one of the only two remaining original English colonial settlement buildings. Cross the river to the West End Markets for coffee (or tea) and to stock up on morning tea under the fig trees. Be charmed by the riverside markets, which are famous for their fresh food, relaxed vibes, opportunities to pat lots of dogs and local busking talent. Following the market, you will pedal back up the river, past the Gallery of Modern Art, State Gallery and Libraries, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and on to the world-famous Southbank. Continuing along the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, cross the river over the Story Bridge and test the brakes down the hill to finish at Howard Smith Wharves, just in time for lunch.
