Full description
Start your tour at the magnificent Foursquare Rum Distillery where you will meet your friendly and informative guide. Once a working sugar factory in the 15th century, Foursquare now pays tribute to the many aspects of Barbadian history. You will learn about the various stages of rum making and enjoy samples of their amazing rums at the bar. Then, let your guide introduce you to a quintessential Bajan rum shop. There are about 1,200 of these rum shops scattered across the island. These village shops provide everything—groceries, bread, provisions—and are a local meeting place. Locals meet to drink rum, play dominoes, and to talk with good friends. Immerse yourself in this traditional Barbadian experience.  From there you will visit Clifton Hall Plantation, one of Barbados’ oldest, and grandest great houses where you can taste the Clifton Hall 12-year old rum, masterfully distilled and blended at Foursquare Distillery.

The tour of the Four Square Rum distillery was interesting and enjoyable. Especially the rum tasting lesson at the end. My wife and I learned a lot about rum! The Clifton Plantation House was really neat to see. A very beautiful house located in a beautiful and quiet part of the island. We were lucky as, except for one other person, we were the only ones on the tour so we had the van to ourselves and had the full attention of Scott, our tour guide. Scott was great as he kept up a regular commentary on the sights as we drove from one place to the other. He is a native Barbadian and has a wealth of knowledge of the island, its history, and culture. Overall, we really enjoyed the tour.
