On this tour you will be taken on a journey that will include how the city got its name and end when it got its independence 50 years ago.  A picture is first painted of the space now called Independence Square before homage is paid to the unceremonial "burial ground" of the slaves as they landed on the island.  The "Blackwood Screw dock" is the next stop before heading to on of two of the "bridges" in the city. From Tent Bay embark on a 6 km hike along the rugged East Coast of the island, following the former train line that existed between Bridgetown and Belleplaine in the late 1800s. A boat will take you to and from the submarine ,during the boat ride there is a safety briefing. After the short boat ride to the submarine, the hatches are secured and the tour begins. Only natural daylight is initially used but as it gets dark the lights on the submarine are switched on ,revealing a different perspective of the coral reef. This lends to the ambience and gives a romantic mood to the tour. You are able to experience the best of both worlds day and night. There is less activity on the reef as predators and reef fish are fewer in number than during the day. On surfacing you are transferred back aboard the boat for the return to the dock.

Zachary, our guide, was wonderful. Passionate and knowledgeable about his country. Saw lots of areas of Bridgetown we wouldn’t have found on our own. Good to see where the locals shop at street markets etc. Very hot walking around but a great goody bag provided of water, snacks and maps. Lovely few hours. Thanks Zachary

Great little excursion. Our guide was very informative and friendly and told us lots about the sea life and helped us spot the turtles. Added fun of being in the kayak. Waterproof phone holders provided. Had a lovely time.
