The Slovakian National Collection of Wines is unique in Europe and is open all year round. Here you will find the top 100 Slovak wines. Delight in wines selected by oenologists, sommeliers, winemakers, and the National Wine Salon of the Slovak Republic. Choose one wine-tasting program, either 3 samples of wine, 5 samples, or a complete wine tasting with up to 72 Slovakian wines to choose from. At first glance, this may seem like a lot, but how many samples you can taste is up to you. The program is designed so that you can taste wines from 6 Slovak wine-growing areas. Experience and taste the best of Slovak wine culture. Get comfortable in the stylish historic cellar of the Museum of Viticulture and Enology in the Apponny Palace. Tastings are managed by a professional sommelier, who talks about individual wines in terms of sensory properties and their interest.

The wines were really really good (got myself two bottles to take home). The tour itself felt a bit rushed. It was just two of us plus the guide, which was nice at it felt private but we had booked the 5 wines/45 minute tour and I think the first 4 wines were poured within like 10 minutes and the sips were tiny. They should give you a bit more time to taste and enjoy each wine before bringing out the next one. It felt a bit like we needed to finish the glass quickly.

So much fun. The sommelier was so informed, answered my every question, and made me feel so comfortable. The choice of wines were exceptional and having the grape, region and expected tastes explained prior to each wine made the whole experience so much more valuable. I would absolutely recommend. I could see other groups doing the tasting without the sommelier, but I felt having the wines explained in such a passionate and considerate way made the experience all the more rewarding.

It's was a great experience and got to meet new people, try lots of flavours, it would have been better if the guide gave us some background information about wines, the winery and wine making process instead of just letting us loose with the bottles.
