We went in May, which is at the beginning of the season, so we did not see many whales. The process is simple: arrive at the wharf, line up and board the catamaran, find a seat and listen to safety instructions. The catamaran departed exactly at 10 am as scheduled and took us out at a great speed for about one hour. When we arrived at the feeding area where we were expected to see the whales. Unfortunately, the whales did not get the memo, and as wild creatures that they are, were not anywhere in sight. The captain and crew kept looking and at around 12:21 pm we experienced the awe inspiring moment when a whale made its appearance. These are wild animals and the naturalists on board have absolutely no control of when and if they decide to be at the feeding grounds. After that, we had sightins for about 45 minutes but since the trip back is one hour, we started to make our way to port at about 1 pm. If you want guarantees in life, well, this is not the tour for you, but we loved it.

We had an awesome time and saw some beautiful whales - the guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable. My only complaint was that if there was a whale on one side of the boat and we were waiting for it to crest the boat would turn so the front of the boat had the best vantage point. That didn’t seem to make sense to us. Only 10% of the boat could see at that point.

It was an excellent experience, an opportunity to see Whales, (dolphins and seals) in their natural habitat. Top tips: Bring warm clothes and arrive early if you would like to sit outside, there is plenty of seating inside though so no need to panic.

It was good. Nice little trip out to sea. We didn’t see any whales though, but it can’t be helped I guess. They wasn’t out to play this time round.

It was great family day out at the island. Can’t say enough good things about this island .
