8. From Bordeaux: Full-Day St Emilion Wine Tasting Tour

The wine region of Libournais encompasses much of what is referred to as the Right Bank. Named after its historical capital, the expression Right Bank typically refers to wines from the Pomerol and St-Emilion areas of the Libournais. There are several villages around the region that share the Saint-Émilion name, such as Montagne-Saint-Émilion and St-Georges-Saint-Émilion which are named the satellite appellations. The area is bordered to the west by Pomerol. Merlot is the dominant grape in this area, followed by Cabernet Franc and a very small quantity of Malbec that is tending to disappear. The climate and damper, cool soils of the area make it difficult for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to fully ripen and as such is less often used. Depart for the Saint Emilion wine region and enjoy a visit and wine tasting at a famous classified growth Chateaux of the Pomerol or Saint Emilion appellation. Afterward, arrive in the village of Saint Emilion and enjoy a guided walking tour with your guide to discovering the main monuments of this quaint hilltop village. This was a brilliant tour that we highly recommend to anyone looking for a chance to visit a vineyard to Bordeaux. Our tour guide Colas was very informative and friendly, making sure everyone was getting the most out of the experience in relation to their personal wine knowledge. He even took the time to recommend some restaurants and bars for us to visit during the rest of our time in Bordeaux. We were able to taste 3 different wines at the Château, which were all amazing. We were then allowed some time to explore the village of Saint Emillion, which was beautiful and not too busy with tourists in February. The experience is 4 hours long in total, with a 40 minute drive each way from Bordeaux. We felt that this was well worth the money, and gave us time to enjoy the rest of our day when we returned around lunchtime.

Would definitely recommend Our guide Yan was amazing. He drove us in a comfortable minivan and along the way gave us entertaining and informative stories related to Bordeaux, wine and what it means to the French. We visited two wine farms in St Emilion, had great wine and a cheese, charcuterie, fresh bread platter that was delicious. Also did a tour of St Emilion, and again Yan taught us so much. Would absolutely recommend. Ask for Yan

Educational and fun. I was a little nervous since my partner had to drop out last minute, but it wasn't awkward at all to go solo! In fact, it was a mixture of people in pairs as well as solo travelers. Would definitely recommend.

Saint-Emilion is beautiful and the wine is excellent but the tour guides made the experience so much better. they were so friendly and helpful I would definitely recommend booking a tour with them
