This private full-day Medoc wine tour will take you to the most famous wine appellations, including Margaux, St. Julien, and Pauillac or St. Estèphe. This will be a tailor-made tour for your group with visits to 3 important Bordeaux châteaux.
What to Expect
As you depart Bordeaux on this tour you’ll head towards the famous Medoc wine region. The full-day program is priced for a group of up to 8 participants.
The Medoc region covers approximately 5,700 hectares of declared vineyards, annually producing an average of 300,000 hectoliters of wine.
Of the grape varieties permitted, half of the viticultural area is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and to a lesser extent Petit Verdot and Malbec. Also allowed within the AOC regulations are the varieties Cabernet Franc and Carménère.
The region you’ll visit spans an area from the mouth of the river to the south and includes the 4 famous communes of St. Estephe, Pauillac, St. Julien, and Margaux.
Your tour will take you to 3 1855 Classified Growth estates. During the visits you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the technical aspects involved in the making of a wine. You’ll also have the joy of tasting some of the most renowned wines the area produces, as the 1855 Classification included the most prestigious wineries of the Medoc area.
During the day, your driver guide will also take you along the Châteaux Road to admire some of the most famous châteaux such as Chateau Margaux, Chateau Palmer, and Chateau Pichon Longueville.
