Fabian was very friendly & made us feel welcome &was proactive to be helpful when he anticipated I might need help (like while walking down a hill of a path on smooth, slippery stones in the town. ;) He gave us a lot of information along the drive to St. Emilion as well as during the tour at the destinations. The wine tasting was interesting though the young lady was a bit soft spoken, she shared what she knew about wine and gave us small vials to smell and guess what notes (from a chart) we might be tasting in each wine. The views were very nice while in the town, looking down to hills beyond. The only thing to make it better for me would've been a hotel pickup ;) -I had just arrived from Hawaii (28 hrs+ travel& had to call Uber to the meeting spot by a famous statue (aprx 45euros) but when Fabian dropped us off back at that spot I told him I might want 2try taking the Tram (1.90 euros) 2my hotel close 2airport &he explained. Was also Lucky 2meet the Tram driver nearby who helped me! ;)
This was a great tour. Our guide was very friendly and professional. He told us a lot about the wine region on the 50min drive from Bordeaux. The UNESCO medieval city, Saint Emilion, was amazing. We had a great tour through the city. Next we went to a Chateau a short drive away for a tasting. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. A bit gimmicky inside in terms of decor and upkeep. Not sure if it is staged or not. The wines were delicious and we also had a great spread of cheese, salami, chocolate, and bread. The person doing the tasting was great and quite extensive. He told us how to properly experience wines looking for color, smell, taste etc. He also told us about wine pairings with the food offered! * As an American, this is not the boozy wine tasting we are used to in the states. It is simply a tasting. Compared to the tour we took of the Medoc region, this tour was most focused on the medieval city of Saint Emilion with a wine tasting at the end. Not a tour of the facility.
