Our guide / translator was Camilo and he was wonderful. We first stopped at the town of Guatavita and learned of its history of being flooded over to make reservoir and meticulously recreated at a higher elevation in the same style as the town which is more beneath the reservoir. The next stop was to the park in which Lake Guatavita exists. There one of the park's tour guides, leads you to the lake itself, which is one of the most sacred sites of the Muisca (also called Chibcha) people. The tour guide was himself Muisca and the tour was from the perspective of the Muisca (also called Chibcha) people, which I found very refreshing as well as fascinating. I learned a lot and am motivated to learn more. I highly recommend this tour!
Very pleasant visit with Cindy and Luis. We learned a lot and the conversation with Cindy was fascinating.
