We had the most amazing day on a private tour with our guide Amy and driver Guillermo. Both were incredibly friendly and warm and made the day that much more special. Lake Guatavita is stunning, but be warned, you can’t walk it yourself. You are forced to be part of tour with a tour guide. This is fine if you understand Spanish, but if you don’t, it’s 1 hour of you being forced to listen to something you don’t understand. Amy was helpful with translation during this time, but I still would have much preferred to walk it on my own time and read signs about the history of the area that could be provided in different languages. We were blown away by the Salt Cathedral. It is very impressive and a must to experience.

The visit of Lake Guatavitá is very interesting. About 1 hour 30 minutes with a guide during the climb (a little breathless). The Salt Cathedral is very original, the visit with an audio guide is very good. The "typical" lunch was poor and not easily digestible. The transport was on the other hand catastrophic (even if the driver and the guide were very nice). The roads are certainly bad, but the minibus was extremely uncomfortable and the shock absorbers almost non-existent. The cervicals have paid the price.
