Full description
Enjoy an excursion to Pamukkale, and see the ruins of the Greco-Roman settlement at Hierapolis as well as the extraordinary natural formation known as the Cotton Castle. Reach Pamukkale and visit the ancient city of Hierapolis to see the Greco-Roman ruins. These include the great Roman theater, the tomb of St. Philip, the Roman baths, the temple to Apollo, and others. The kings of Pergamon established the thermal spa of Hierapolis, which is registered as cultural and natural heritage site by UNESCO. During your visit to this open-air museum, you’ll also see a massive ancient graveyard that contains over 1,200 sarcophagi, many of which are the size of a small house. Pamukkale’s alien-seeming landscape is the result of calcite-laden waters that flow from springs in a cliff that rises 200 meters over the plain. You’ll see formations that resemble forests and waterfalls, and also a series of terraced basins.

    Great value and good fun

This was a fantastic day trip out of Bodrum... though I would have liked more time in Pamukkale. The soak in the pool is well worth it. The only thing that spoilt it was the stop at the leather shop on the way back, where we were subjected to a naff catwalk show then encouraged to buy leather clothing on a rather warm day. It would have been better (and probably more appropriate) if we stopped at one of the Onyx workshops the region is famous for.

Beautiful attraction, but too much stupid waste of time

I really enjoyed Pamukkale, but I would have loved to stay there longer! From the whole 15 h we spend on the trip only 2.5 h were spend at the real attraction which is far not enough to see everything. Instead we spend almost one hour in a leather manufacture and another at least 45 min in an awful restaurant. It would be much better if this time was spend in Pamukkale where one can find enough options to get some food. We were promised to go directly back to our hotels afterwards, but the bus stopped again at two restaurants before we finally got to our hotel.
