This trip was beyond my expectations. I was picked up at my place in Durrës. First we went to the "Albanian Alps", a national park in the north of the country. It was quite a ride, but the the views were just breathtaking. Whenever possible, we did not miss to stop and take pictures. At the first destination we hiked to the lake called "Blue Eye". We were surrounded by stunning nature, passed a waterfall, crossed a bridge and admired the blue lake. Then we went to our next destination which was an impressive, huge waterfall. It was another hike to get there. Finally we went to the lovely village Theth, where we could visit the beautiful old church. I can truly recommend this trip. You should be in a good condition for the hikes. Our guide Afrim made every wish possible, took pictures, cared for us and made us smile. Our driver, Agron, was very experienced, friendly, taught me Albanian words and supported the group. I am very happy that I did not miss this trip. Faleminderit!

Hiking through Theth to see the Blue Eye was an unforgettable experience. While the hike was a bit challenging for us as beginners, our guide, Ilir, truly made the difference. He was incredibly attentive, adjusting the pace to suit our group’s abilities and ensuring everyone felt comfortable along the way. What made the experience even more engaging was Ilir's knowledge of the region. As we drove through Albania’s stunning landscapes to reach Theth, he shared fascinating insights into the country’s history and culture. The small group size allowed us to enjoy the hike without feeling rushed, and the lack of crowds meant we could fully appreciate the stunning scenery in peace. It was a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, with breathtaking views at every turn. Another thing that I liked is how Ilir also enjoyed the hike alongside us.

We had a great experience exploring the Albanian alps. The colours of the leaves were really beautiful and the simplicity of the people’s livelihood has made the place even more special. This is the other side of Albania that people have not appreciated much and hopefully these protected areas will remain to look like this 5-10 years from now. Thank you to our tour guide Nolan for giving us sufficient time to soak into Albania’s natural beauty and for gathering us in a lovely lunch with other tourists. The goat cheese was to die for! Thank you for the unforgettable experience!
