Ljubljana: Slovenia Day Tour to Bled, Postojna, and Predjama

1. Ljubljana: Slovenia Day Tour to Bled, Postojna, and Predjama

You will start your small-group tour with a pickup from your central Ljubljana hotel and depart for Lake Bled in an air-conditioned minivan.  On the 1-hour journey, you can admire rural Slovenia, the glacier-formed lake, and the legends surrounding Bled Island, the church-topped islet in its center. On arrival, you can drink in the views of the lake and towering mountains and gaze up at medieval Bled Castle, the fortress perched high on a cliff above the water. Then, you will ride a two-oared pletna to the island and enjoy free time to explore. Visit the Church of the Assumption of Mary or sample some scrumptious potica at the island cafe.  Next, you will be driven up to Bled Castle and can delve inside the red-turreted fortress. Absorb the bird's-eye views of the lakes from the walls and visit the museum to chart the castle's story from its roots in the 11th century. You will then return to the lakeside for free time to walk around. If you wish, sample a local specialty, kremšnita vanilla cream cake. Then, after a break for lunch, travel onward to your next stop, Predjama Castle. You can marvel at this remarkable cliffside castle and hear how it was extended through the centuries after being built in 1202. Then, you can choose to explore its stairways and chambers on your own or with a guide.  Lastly, you will continue near Postojna Cave, Slovenia's most-visited tourist attraction. Ride the mini-train into the depths of this underground network and then follow a guide through its eerie caverns. Admire the bizarre stalactites, stalagmites, and rock formations. Hear the tales about the cave's creation and the rare amphibians that live in its underground rivers — the blind salamanders known as 'human fish.'  Then, return to the minivan and end your tour in Ljubljana with a drop-off at your hotel.

I recently took a full day tour visiting Postjama Castle, Postojna Cave, and Lake Bled and I have to say, it was an excellent tour. The price of the tour was more expensive than other tours, but it was worth it because the entry tickets for Postojna Cave and Posjama Castle were included. One of the best things about the tour was that there was only a group of two and the guide, so we practically had a private tour. We went with a personal car and the guide was very informative and talked about various different topics that exceeded the coverage we expected. On the way to Lake Bled, we stopped in a small village and had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant with authentic Slovenian cuisine. I would highly recommend the Deer Steak. The only disadvantage of booking the tour in the winter months is that daylight is shorter. Overall, I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Slovenia and looking for a comprehensive and enjoyable experience

What a great experience!! Tine (Martin) was an amazing guide - he drove through the places with such ease, calm and awesome commentary. He made sure all our questions are answered and we have the best experience. The day was well planned. While the entry tickets are not included and have to be bought directly at the ticket office, there was enough time to explore all the four locations. Tip - though there is nothing major to explore in the Bled castle, the view from is absolutely breathtaking especially at sunset! The transport was very comfortable as well. Highly recommend this trip!

We absolutely loved this tour!! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and being a small group of only 4 of us meant there was flexibility for people to do their own thing. The caves and castle are absolutely incredible and worth paying the extra money to visit (entry fee not included in tour). Then we set off to Bled and caught a pretna boat to the island, again ticket not included but worth the experience. Bled castle was interesting but very different to Predjama!

What an amazing tour! The tour guide was so knowledgable and gave us so much interesting information about Slovenia that would have been hard to find out ourselves. He was funny and charming! I highly recommend this tour, it is truly worth it. The nature is astonishing also!

The tour covered what we wanted to see. And our guide Nina was great. Friendly and informative, Do note that the tour does not include enrtrance fees for any of the attractions, so you can see as many or as few as you like.
