The Zoological Garden of Rome was inaugurated in 1911 with the primary objective of entertaining the public through the exhibition of rare and exotic animals. Based on a very different concept from the current modern zoo, the Bioparco di Roma is active in the conservation of endangered species, environmental education, and scientific research.
