Full description

Experience the thrill of a lifetime as you ride an e-bike around the rim of an erupting volcano on this guided tour from Volcano Village. Explore the unique landscape of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and see the Kīlauea Iki Crater with entry tickets included. Begin your day in Volcano Village. Make use of the secured parking space and restrooms before getting fitted with an e-bike, helmet, bike bag, and rain jacket. Receive safety instructions before embarking on your adventure. Follow your guide around the national park on a bike trail through the lush native Hawaiian rainforest. Stop at Waldron Ledge and get your first panoramic view of the Kilauea Volcano's caldera and the active lava in Halemaumau Crater. Next, continue on a paved trail along the rim of the caldera to the Steam Vents. Feel the heat of the volcano and get another incredible view of the volcano's caldera. Bike along the edge of the crater, getting vast views unseen by most visitors. Heading to the opposite side of the caldera, bike through more of the rainforest before taking a short hike through the Thurston Lava Tube. The journey continues down Devastation Trail to the closest viewing point to see the active lava in the summit crater.

Finish the journey back in Volcano Village where everyone can wish each other an Ahui Hou (until we meet again).

Fun, relaxing, pleasant, safe and educational bike tour

This was a great tour with Steve, our geologist bike tour guide and George, our van driver and gear guy. Steve and George were most pleasant and helpful. The weather was cool and misty and some rain but expected when in a rainforest area. The lunch at the end of the tour was tasty with great scenery while overlooking the basaltic cliffs with crashing ocean. The bike portion of tour was easy paced with two short hills that were challenging for some but you can walk up the hill if necessary. We stopped frequently at points of interest around the volcano. The bikes are hybrids with plenty of gears, hand brakes, comfy seats and good quality. Overall memorable tour and highly recommend it.

Very informative and the time was managed well

Our guides were excellent - good team. What I enjoyed most was the time they spent telling us about the history behind the flows and the future expectations. I highly recommend the tour. Well worth the price.
