Berlin walking tours: the city's highlights and history

Berlin offers a variety of walking tours that take visitors on explorative journeys through the historic buildings in the east and west of Berlin. Whether you take a historic tour or one of the more alternative street-art focused tour, you're sure to see the city in a new light afterwards.

Learn about historic landmarks of Berlin

Get to know the Brandenburg Gate and see the Holocaust Memorial while walking around Berlin. Getting to know some of the city's past gives you a much needed context for the culture you'll encounter there today.

Enjoy graffiti in a totally new way

Alternative tours in Berlin are an amazing way to get to know much more about the murals that cover the buildings in Berlin. Get to know about the rivalries between taggers and who collaborates on pieces.

Discover the many neighborhoods of Berlin quickly

Many walking tours are about three hours long and cover lots of ground. You'll hear stories about the diverse neighborhoods and get to know so much about the characters who created Berlin as it exists today.

A cheap way to discover Berlin

Walking tours are often free or tip-based in Berlin. If you're on a budget but still want to get to know the city well, a walking tour in Berlin is one of the best activities for you (but don't forget, tour guides are making their living from this!).

Ask the guide for recommendations

The guides who give tours are usually residents of Berlin and are excellent resources on what to do and see in Berlin. Don't be shy to ask for restaurant recommendations and more when you're on a walking tour in Berlin!

Planning Your Visit

When is the best time to take a walking tour in Berlin?

Berlin is jam-packed with tourists in the summer, and for good reason. The temperatures are pleasant, the days of sunshine are long, and the city is alive with color. We recommend you take one of the many walking tours in the April through November time frame. June through August are the warmest, but you'll still find it enjoyable to walk around Berlin in spring or fall.

What People Are Saying About Berlin

The Tour was very interesting. Ulrich (I think) was very good .

The Guide was excellent, despite us having weak German, he was very helpful and sympathetic. We enjoyed the Tour very much.

Perfect introduction to Berlin for an art lover

I have always been fascinated by street art and graffiti that's why I chose the alternative tour and I Was not disappointed. Georgia was our guide, she loves art and she loves Berlin. I normally don't like guided tours but with a guide like Georgia I would be happy to see more of Berlin

We enjoyed the tour, but not to everyones interest.

Impressive structure of 1930's National socialism architecture. I think the tour could have been improved by a short video presentation showing archives and the Berlin airlift. From the nearest Ubahn we found the meeting point hard to find, we had to ask a number of times for its location. Better directions on the ticket would have been helpful. Overall enjoyed the experience.
