Full description
Dive right into the history of Berlin. Take a walking tour of the Berlin Wall, starting from Bornholmer Straße, a place steeped in history: it was here that the first Berliners from East and West met and rejoiced together on the day the wall fell and the unified German nation was reborn. Walking along the former death strip, you will see traces of the wall, sometimes only detectable by experts. Discover how these traces are being documented, and learn the strange history of the cherry trees that grew the length of the wall. Visit the wall memorials, and the Mauerpark – today one of the capital's liveliest cultural and social centers. Relax over coffee along the way and make tracks finally to the Nordbahnhof, a former ghost station, where the tour ends.

On a cold December day, my husband and I met Katrine for a 3 hour walk along and conversation about the wall. Katrine was born, raised, and socialized in East Berlin before the wall fell. Not only did we learn a lot, but we considered issues we had never thought of. This was an enjoyable and inciteful walk. I recommend this to any anyone wishing to experience history from a person who lived it.

Myself and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our 2.5 hour guided Berlin Wall walk. Marcus walked us from Bornholmstrasse down to Bernauerstrasse giving us information about the Berlin Wall. Marcus was very informative and as we were a very small group we were able to ask him lots of questions which he answered freely. Marcus was able to tell us his own experiences of life when the wall was up. We learnt so much - definitely our best experience of Berlin.

Added bonus that when we set off we had the guide all to ourselves! Started from the beginning and got to see and understand from the absolute start what happened where. The guide had grown up in East Berlin so was able to give a first hand overview of what life was like. She spoke very good English and was able to articulate very descriptive accounts of events. As we walked along other points of interest were shown to us also giving a detailed summary. As we walked further the detail and visual memorabilia became more concentrated. Then we saw what remains of the wall and the guide was excellent at pulling all the stories from along the morning to a thorough and thought provoking conclusion. Would have paid twice the amount for such a fantastic tour. Well worth every penny and a bargain. Must recommend you do this tour when you visit Berlin
