What to Expect
Private visit with audio guide and café visit
Start your visit to the Royal Porcelain Factory at the KPM café, where you can collect your ticket and free audio guide in English or German. Begin the tour in the historical entrance hall, which illustrates the history of KPM and the development of porcelain design, beginning with Frederick the Great, who bought the factory 250 years ago, and proceeding through the Bauhaus era.

Before visiting the porcelain shop, where you can admire the current KPM products and services and purchase handmade souvenirs, you can take a look at the fastest porcelain in the world, the Bugatti Veyron l‘or blanc.

You can then enjoy a delicious Andraschko coffee in a cup from the elegant URBINO series alongside piece of cake at the KPM café. You are also welcome to head to the café at the beginning of your visit instead.

Public tour

The public tour of the KPM Welt (World) exhibit departs at 15:00 every Saturday from the DKPM Café, where your guide will be waiting for you. The tour is led in German.

You'll learn all about the history of porcelain: how it came to Europe, why Friedrich the Great bought the factory 250 years ago, and how porcelain design has developed over the ages.

In the historical ring chamber kiln hall (Ringkammerofenhalle), which was used to fire porcelain until the 1960s, you'll learn how fine porcelain is still made by hand in this factory. What does kaolin feel like? How do you use a plaster cast? How often is the porcelain fired? You'll learn the answers to all of these questions from your guide.

Go to the factory outlet to pick up a souvenir that's been handmade in Berlin.

Finish your tour with a cup of authentic Berlin coffee or a fresh-baked pastry in the KPM Café.
