Full description

Hear about the tumultuous contemporary history of Berlin in a nutshell on a two-hour small-group or private walking tour.

Meet your tour guide in front of the Brandenburg Gate, the site of many changes in 20th-century Berlin.

Listen to expert commentary about the last days of the Second World War and hear how the gate came to be a symbol of reunification in Germany after 1989.

Next, learn about the curious Reichstag Fire of 1933 as you pass the German House of Parliament.

Here you’ll delve deep into the key events that took place after the appointment of Hitler as Chancellor of Germany in 1933, what happened to this building since the fall of the wall in 1989 and how it is used today.

Continue your whistlestop sightseeing tour via the Soviet War Memorial in Tiergarten, you’ll have the chance to examine Soviet military hardware, tangible sources of the history of the city.

From here you’ll move onto the impactful Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, a poignant dedication to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust.

After seeing the site of Hitler’s Bunker you’ll progress onto Hermann Göring's enormous Ministry of Aviation building at the Detlev-Rohwedder-Haus, which was later the site of the founding of the GDR in 1949. Next, you’ll head to see where the SS and the Gestapo institutions were located.

Contemplate life on both sides of the Berlin Wall while gathering around a 200-meter long stretch of the wall. Despite the wall falling 30 years ago, standing here allows you to absorb the very palpable history of the city.

Round off the walk with a stop at Checkpoint Charlie, where your guide will finish the tour with anecdotes about the infamous American versus Soviet tank standoff and the final hours before the wall fell.

Kia was so informative & captivating on the tour today! I truly walked away with so much more insight about major historical events. Although the weather was so hot this morning, Kia made sure to make sure everyone was comfortable often choosing areas with shade to minimize the impact of the sun. Awesome tour that I would definitely recommend to other people! Don’t miss out!

We started our trip a bit late and we struggled to find our tour guide cos of this. Finally we found the other tour guide, Maria, from the same group organising the tour. She kindy accepted our family in her tour even though it was a 3-hour tour instead of our original 2-hour tour. Maria was really good trying to keep the tour interactive when possible. She didn't go too much into the details but kept it to the necessary details. Started the tour at Brandenburg Gate and finished it at the location of Fuhrerbunker. Enjoyed the tour. Long walk but didn't feel that long despite the hot weather.

I've been on a lot of guided tours. Like - a lot. This was, hands-down, the BEST tour I have ever been on! My son is a huge history nerd and has been begging to visit Berlin for years. We finally went. I knew a historical walking tour would be right up his alley but it ended up being right up mine! Jim was an incredible tour guide. He was knowledgeable and able to share his knowledge on a level that excited my son and kept me engaged. Not an easy feat! I learned so much. So much more than I expected. I left that tour wanting to see and understand more. THAT is the work of someone who has a gift of "teaching". Thank you for offering such a great experience! I wish we were in Berlin longer to explore more.
