Full description
Immerse yourself in another world as you explore the Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Berlin. See the gravestones and the blue dome of the cathedral, and learn more about the history of the cemetery and Russians in Berlin. Stroll the surroundings of the cathedral and learn more about the major representatives of Russian exile: Vladimir Dimitrijevic Nabokov, the father of the famous writer; Sverbeev, the Russian ambassador during the outbreak of war in 1914 who drew attention to himself after the war with interesting revelations; Krivoshein, who wanted to prevent the chaos in Russia through agrarian reforms and then achieved the opposite; and Sukhomlinov, the Minister of War for Russia, whose contact with Germany became his downfall and subsequently spent the 1920s as a recluse in Wandlitz. Visit the grave of Juli Aichenwald, the former friend of Vladimir Nabokov. Stop for a moment and see the graves of children of Russian forced laborers in Germany during the time of National Socialism. Embark on the search for remarkable historical graves in the cemetery. A visit to the Russian Orthodox chapel, modelled on Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow, can also be arranged on request.
