What to Expect
On this varied and entertaining tour you will experience how diverse a visit to Berlin is. If you are visiting Berlin for the first time, this tour provides an ideal overview of the heart of the city – Berlin's Mitte district. If you think you know Berlin very well, then you will be surprised how quickly the city changes.

Experience the hustle and bustle at Hackescher Markt. The Spandauer Vorstadt surrounding the famous Hackesche Höfe evolved in recent years to become one of the trendiest areas in Berlin. Designer boutiques, restaurants, and galleries have been established here.

Continue on to the Museum Island. Five museums are located at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will also find a large construction site as the construction companies are fighting with ground water. You will also learn more about a gift from the ice age.

From Lustgarten you will have a wonderful view of the city skyline including the Berlin Cathedral, the TV Tower, Nikolaiviertel, and the large construction site in the heart of the city. Here, the historical facades of the Berlin City Palace will stand as the so-called Humboldt Forum in a few years.

The Neue Wache tells of the complexity of the city's history. Built as a guardhouse of the palace guard, it is now the central memorial of the Federal Republic for the victims of war and tyranny.

See the statue of King Frederick II, nicknamed "Old Fritz," at his Forum Fridericianum. The State Opera, today's Humboldt University, and St. Hedwig's Cathedral originated in accordance with his drafts. On the tour you will also learn why the Royal Library is older than the original. The sunken library tells the story of a dark chapter and recalls the words of Heinrich Heine.

After a relaxing pause, continue to Checkpoint Charlie, the symbol of the Cold War. Follow the two sets of cobblestone to the rest of the Berlin Wall on Niederkirchner Straße. Hardly another spot in Berlin holds as much history as this corner. Hear one of the many stories of the bold ones who tried to escape over the wall.

Continue on to Wilhelmstraße and the memorial to Georg Elser. The memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe was erected on a now famous parking lot. This memorial site between Potsdamer Platz and the Brandenburg Gate created an entirely different emotional atmosphere.

The tour concludes in front of one of Berlin's most famous sights: the Brandenburg Gate. The quadriga atop itself could tell so many stories of what it has seen in the last 200 years.
