The municipality covers 465 square kilometers, and sits on the peninsula of Bergenshalvøyen. The city center and northern neighborhoods are on Byfjorden, "the city fjord", and the city is surrounded by mountains. Bergen is also known as the "city of seven mountains". The Flåm Railway is one of the world's steepest railways. It is 20 kilometers long, with a descent of 865 meters and a gradient of one in 18. It also consists of 20 tunnels with a total length of 6 kilometers - evidence of the most daring and skillful engineering in the history of Norwegian railways.

The fjord cruise was incredible. Small town stops were also really charming. Make sure to pack lots of food/snacks because there aren’t many shops on route except for expensive tourism stops. There’s a grocery store in the Voss train station with reasonable prices. Tickets and clear instructions were all sent to me the day before my trip. It was very easy to follow along! Yes it would be cheaper to book the individual trips yourself, but not worth the effort and confusion. The folks here do it all for you! One of the trains had track works so they booked an alternative bus option. That would be so hard to do on my own had I not booked with get your guide. By the way I recommend bringing a book because the last train ride back to Oslo is quite long.

Everything worked great with GetYourGuide, but it was difficult with the actual organizer. We only received all the information very late, which was a bit exhausting for us in the planning (16 hours before the start of the trip). The trip itself was very nice! Unfortunately we were not able to do the full cruise due to weather conditions but a replacement was arranged. We liked the Flam Railway best, followed by the shortened boat trip. It is a long journey and we would recommend taking plenty of provisions with you. Since we traveled in winter, a cafe/restaurants were closed.
