Full description
Explore the Kalemegdan park and the Belgrade Fortress with the remains of the ancient city of Singidunum, today Belgrade. The city was founded by a Celtic tribe in the 3rd century BC. From the 1st century AD Singidunum was an important fortress and town, a Roman colony on the military frontier between the Roman Empire and barbaric Eastern Europe. Visit the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral (Saborna crkva), which was built on the orders of Prince Miloš Obrenović in 1837 in a classical style with late baroque elements. The church is dedicated to the Archangel Michael. Visit the magnificent Cathedral of St. Sava, the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans, dedicated to to St. Sava the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church. It lies on the spot where the original church was burnt in 1595 by the Turks, led by Sinan Pasha. The preparation for the construction was only started at the end of the 19th Century, and while the exterior work has been completed, the interior remains uncompleted.

Marko is a super guide with a passion and a deep knowledge of history and especially history of art. His guidance was above any expectation. There was just me, and though, a minubus was at my disposition in the first part when the overall layout of the larger city was shown to me introducing the impact of different historical dominations in different parts of the city over the architecture. It also touched major stops away from the centre like Saint Sava cathedral. The walking part started at the fortress down to the center. After my interest, Marko explained every possible detail and historical influences about every artifact and architecture. If you want to have an understanding of Belgrade this is a perfect choice.

A nice way to get a general view of the main sites in Belgrade.

The three hours duration is a little short. We had three stops, all of them at interesting sites. The rest of the tour, we see everything from inside the minibus, with little opportunities for taking pictures. An added 1 hour to the tour (start 1 hour earlier), with an additional 2 stops for pictures (at the Parliament area, at the Tito residence,...) would improve the product. A small extra cost would be worthwhile.

Amazing tour with the most informative guide, Gideon.

I completely enjoyed this tour. Gideon was an amazing guide with historical knowledge to answer every question. I knew little of Belgrade before I came and feel as though I know and can appreciate the city and it's fascinating history with understanding thanks to this tour. The walking part of the tour was the best part. There was so much to see and understand. I was able to ask all of my questions and the guides were polite, patient and considerate of my needs. I would (and will) recommend this tour to everyone.
