Absolute highlight of my Belfast visit, if you have time for only one tour…go on this one. Arthur’s an exceptional guide, you get such an honest view of the city and its people by walking it with a local who’s lived through those turbulent times. Can’t recommend this enough.

this is an excellent tour which strikes perfectly the difficult balance of providing information, confronting Belfast's recent history and offering a hopeful vision for the future. I appreciated how the tragedy, terror and trauma of the past were presented compassionately and in a balanced way, looking at cause and effect and not trying to sensationalise for entertainment or cast blame. This is a guide who clearly loves his city and its people, and wants to show the best of it, past, present and future. I'd definitely recommend it.

I was looking for a walking tour of Belfast to just see some major historical sights of the city. What I got from instead exceeded everything. Tour guide Arthur took us around his city that he is immensely proud of, but also highly knowledgeable of its contentious history. The way he presents Belfast, as a city of contradictions, of hope, loss, connection and divide, was a sobering and poignant reminder of the brutal reality lived but those particularly in the latter half of the 20th century. If you’re looking to see the story behind the famous murals, or what those 40 odd foot high walls really represent, if you haven’t heard of the times Belfast “built bridges” instead of walls over its long and oft-overlooked history, then this is the tour for you. Highly recommend for a deeper understanding of Belfast’s history as told from a proud and honest Belfastian. Extra points if you’re into your late 70s - 80s music!
