Spend the day exploring the historic Chinese capital of Beijing. Thrill to the history behind the magnificent architecture of the ancient city, with visits to the Temple of Heaven and the renowned Forbidden City
What to Expect
As the capital of the People’s Republic of China, Beijing has been a historic center of power, culture and wealth for centuries. On this 8-hour tour you will visit some of the essential places in the city.

Your guides will tell you breathtaking stories about the daily life of Ming emperors in the Forbidden City, and about their prayers to Heaven as the Son of God at the Temple of Heaven.

Behind the veneer of modernity, this city of 15 million people conceals some of the most splendid relics and structures from China's imperial past. Your tour begins at Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square, where you will visit Tiananmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum.

You will then move to the legendary Forbidden City, now known as the Imperial Palace Museum. The history of the Ming and Qing dynasties is represented throughout 4 palatial halls, together with treasures from previous dynasties collected by the Ming and Qing emperors.

Some tours only explore the highlights, but this excursion will give you a more in-depth visit.

After a substantial lunch, you will visit the aptly named Temple of Heaven, dating back to the 15th century. Built in the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Temple served as the site of prayer, traditional ceremonies and sacrificial rituals and is one of Beijing’s great splendors.

It is a busy day packed with history, but you will also visit the Yuanhou Silk Store to view a tasteful selection of silk items, one of the most popular products for souvenir in China.
