What to Expect
Beijing is a city with a fascinating history, and now you can learn all about the Chinese Capital on our full-day museum tour.
Our first stop is the Palace Museum. Also known as the Forbidden City, this was the site of the Chinese Imperial Palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty, and dates back to the early 1400s. Now it is a captivating museum, full of artwork and artifacts from both the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Following the Palace Museum, there will be a stop for lunch at a local restaurant before we head to the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall, famous for its miniature model of Beijing’s massive metropolitan area.
The final stop is the hugely impressive Capital Museum. Housing more than 200,000 cultural relics, this is the perfect place for you to discover the wonders of Beijing’s history.
Even from the outside, the Capital Museum is striking, its massive roof and stone exterior wall designed to represent ancient Chinese architecture. A piece of Dambi – stone carved with images of dragons and other imperial artefacts – is embedded in the ground at the north gate, while a decorative archway from the Ming Dynasty stands proudly in the reception hall.
Inside you will see beautiful artifacts and stunning collections of paintings, calligraphy, jade carvings, ancient sculptures and more.
