Mutianyu is one of the most impressive and well-preserved sections of the Great Wall of China. It is known as the "Grand Pass on the Precipitous Ridge" because it was a military stronghold in ancient times.
What to Expect
Your tour begins with collection from your hotel at around 07:30. The drive to Mutianyu takes around one hour, and your professional tour guide will explain the Great Wall and related Chinese history and culture on the way.
Built mainly with granite, the Mutianyu Great Wall was opened to tourists on May Day in 1986, the second site to be opened after the Badaling section. Watchtowers are distributed along the Mutianyu section, and the surrounding natural scenery is also breathtaking, with woods covering over ninety-six percent of the total area.
After lunch at a local restaurant, the guide will transfer you back to your hotel for around 16:00.
