What to Expect
Go on a journey through Chinese history on a combined full-day tour from Beijing to the Badaling Great Wall of China, and the 18th-century Summer Palace and gardens of Emperor Qinglong.
Following a pick-up from your city hotel at approximately 07:30-08:00, drive by air-conditioned minibus for up to 10 passengers, and head to the popular Badaling section of the Great Wall north of the city.
Upon arrival, you will have the option to take the cable car to the summit at your own expense, or enjoy a walk up to the wall through the Guan Valley mountains. Learn more about the Ming dynasty and why they constructed the Badaling Wall in 1505 to keep out Mongol invaders.
Then, drive to the nearby Jade Art Gallery for a traditional Chinese lunch, and learn about the ancient craft of jade art and design. En route back to Beijing, stop at the pagoda pavilions, palaces, gardens, and lakes of the Summer Palace, where you will have 90 minutes to explore sights such as the ornate Marble Boat.
Make one final stop before your hotel drop off, and enjoy a 30-minute Chinese-style shopping adventure!
