Full description
This full-day tour by air-conditioned bus takes you north of Beijing to the relaxing mountains and streams surrounding the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China. You will also visit the Ming Tombs of the Changping District and take a short visit to a jade carving factory.

Drive to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, which provides a more challenging climb than the more popular Badaling section. Snaking its way through the Yanshan Mountains, the wall contains interesting features, such as densely packed watchtowers and crenelated parapets. A cable car avoids the need to climb the 1,400 steps to the summit, where you will be rewarded with staggering views of the mountains.

You will also visit the Ming Tombs, located on the southern slope of Tianshou Mountain. 13 Ming Dynasty emperors were buried in the area after the third Ming emperor Yongle moved the Chinese capital from Nanjing to Beijing in 1420. Explore the Chang Ling Mausoleum, where excavations have unearthed important objects for the study of the history of the Ming Dynasty.

To round off this trip to some of China’s most ancient sites, enjoy a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.
