What to Expect
Start this foodie walking tour of Beijing with an introduction to a typical savory Beijing breakfast, before moving on towards the city’s old fruit and vegetable market. On your way you will pass through the ranks of dry fruit and exotic nut vendors, as well as other stalls of delicious foods.

Stop off at leisure to listen to a full description of the foods on offer, and get some tantalizing recipes. Your next stop will be at the wet market, where you will discover some of the more esoteric and exceptional varieties of vegetables, spices, and different types of tofu.

Located next door, you will find one of Beijing’s small local supermarkets. These treasure troves are stacked to the roof with a huge range of interesting and delectable products, most unknown to western eyes. Your guide will give your taste buds an educational tour. There is also the possibility to sample some of the city’s finest drinks and snacks at the friendly establishment.

Next up a real treat awaits, as you take a relaxed stroll through the local hutongs, towards the attractive area of Houhai Lake. Enjoy a lavish lunch, with dishes using some of the produce encountered throughout the day, such as mouthwatering lotus roots, delicious jie mo dun, and tasty varieties of tofu.
