If you're looking to see multiple castles in Germany, go for the VIP tour! We went with a group of 6, and we had a blast. The bus was roomy, comfortable, and stocked with snacks, drinks, and even happy hour wine and beer. Our driver was excellent and drove very carefully on some of the super-curvy roads - no Dramamine required. The schedule was tight, so you don't get to really wander much, but you do get lots of direction and everything is very efficient. It's not a tour for dawdlers or those who like to explore away from the group. The castles were gorgeous (even under lots of construction), and our tour guide was helpful and knowledgeable. One minor complaint is that there was a LOT of talking by our guide on the bus, pretty much non-stop for the entire duration of the tour, and I would have preferred some time to just drink in the scenery, enjoy some music, or chat with my friends without a constant drone of (semi-related) facts. That said, it was still a great time!
We started off in the Marienplatz and we got a little history lesson that was interesting. We picked up a lot of interesting information on the Victorian market. We ate traditional Bavarian breakfast weisswurst at one of the first restaurants in Munich. I was hesitant at first because of the white color but it tastes great. We then tried several exotic fruits at one of the stands, all amazing and some I had never tried before. We then tried a few cheeses, spreads, natural remedies at another stand. Again, all tasted very good. Our last thing we had was a traditional dessert. I forgot the name but it was similar to a sweet roll with some type of glaze on the top and filled with cooked plums. Our tour lasted a little over 3 hours and we very much enjoyed it.
Eric is a great asset to your company what a charming and enthusiastic person who made this tour outstanding in site. His sheer abundance of knowledge & passion on history really made this tour . We would have liked to have been able to tip as most tours give that option . Eric also ensured he had spoken to each and everyone of us from all around the globe ! Made it a personal touch which is usually a difficult task with large groups . Thank you Eric much appreciation.
This was an excellent intorduction to the city. Charlie the guide knew so much about Munich having lived there for many years. His knowledge of the history of the city was superb. I fully recommend this tour, it shows enough of the city if you only have a short time, otherwise it introduces you to sights that are worth a fuller visit.
The trip is well organized and the bus service is very comfortable. The itinerary felt a bit rushed as it would have been nice to spend more time at both the castles. The village stop in between was nice but would have preferred more time at the castles.
